The Kawartha Lakes Fury had qualified three teams for Zone 6 Championship games for the first time in their brief history. This marked the first time that the association saw teams compete in all divisions that they have entered teams into. However, no banners will be raised for 2009.

The Peterborough Lakers gained some revenge on the Jim Newton Electric Bantams in Zone 6 lacrosse action on Tuesday, July 21, as they beat the Fury by a score of 2-1, to capture the Zone 6 D Championship.

MIDGET FURY ENDS REGULAR SEASON WITH A WIN

The midget Fury played, and won, their last scheduled season game in Little Britain on Monday, July 27, 2009 against the Peterborough Lakers. Both goaltenders, Luke Smith and Patrick Stacey, played a solid game between the posts. Scoring goals was Devin Jordan, Tom Weber (2), Jeremy Lytle (2) and Brad Gerrow. Assists were from Nick Berry, Gerrow, Smith, Weber, and Lytle.

PENALTIES HURT BANTAM FURY AT MIMICO TOURNY

It was supposed to be a warm up for the Provincial Championships that are to take place in Whitby during the weekend of July 31 to August 2, 2009, with two of the three teams that they played in the tournament being Brampton 2 and Milton, they were hoping to assert themselves and show both these teams that they will be the team to beat in Provincials, as both of these teams are also in the Fury's pool in Whitby.

MIDGET FURY FINALLY DEFEATS CLARINGTON

The air in the Little Britain arena was ringing with victory on Monday, July 20 as the Midget Fury beat their Clarington opponents 5-3. Being defeated by this team in three previous scheduled games, the boys put their heart and soul into this game to come out on the winning side.

Stopping many shots, Patrick Stacey and Luke Smith, were able to keep Clarington to only three goals.

Scoring for the Fury were Jeremy Lytle, Michael Laidley, Devin Jordan, Jake Rutherford and Andrew Nokes. Assists were by Jordan, Nick Berry and Brad Gerrow.



Sunday, July 19, 2009:

MIDGET FURY COMPETE WELL IN NEPEAN TOURNY - FINISH FIRST IN POOL



From a game tying goal with one second remaining, a penalty shot saved in the final minutes of the third period, to finishing first in their pool and making it to the semi-finals, the Midget Fury had a eventful and successful torunament in Nepean on the weekend of Friday, July 17 to Sunday, July 20.

MIDGET FURY ADD ANOTHER WIN TO RECORD

The Lindsay Recreation Complex was alive with end to end action as the Midget Kawartha Lakes Fury team narrowly beat the Peterborough Lakers with a 5-4 victory. With 2 minutes and 50 seconds left in the action packed game, Devin Jordan scored his second goal of the night to secure the win for the Fury team. Patrick Stacey played a solid game between the pipes, adding a win to his season record.
Goal scorers were Jordan (2), Nick Berry, Brad Gerrow and Ty Ellis. Picking up assists were Jeremy Lytle(3), Michael Laidley(2), Berry, Jordan and Gerrow.

MIDGET FURY CAPTURES FIRST HOME WIN

The Lindsay Recreation Complex was buzzing on Monday, June 22 as the Midget Fury team recorded their first home win.

Fast and furious was the play by the Fury and the Peterborough Lakers. Fury goaltender, Luke Smith, recorded a first period shut-out before handing over the reins to Patrick Stacey. Stacey played two solid periods leading the Fury to the 8-3 victory. Goal scorers were Devin Jordan (2), Ty Ellis (2), Brad Gerrow (2), and Michael Laidley (2). Picking up assists during the game were Gerrow (3), Laidley (2), Evan Connolly (3) and Jordan.

The next action for the Midget team is at the Midland Tournament on Sunday, June 28.



Friday, June 19, 2009:

MIDGET FURY SECURES ELUSIVE FIRST ZONE WIN

On Friday, June 19, the Kinsmen Arena in Peterborough was full of cheers as the Midget Fury team celebrated their first zone win of the season. Josh O誰eill joined the midgets again and played a solid two periods between the pipes. Taking over for O誰eill was Patrick Stacey and he continued to make the saves to give the boys the win. Coach Steve Millard reported that it was the best play he has seen from his midget team so far this season.

The final score was 7-4.

Leading the team to victory was Evan Connolly (2), and Brad Gerrow(2). First time scorers; Nick Berry, Andrew Nokes and William Lane secured the win for the team. Assists went to: Michael Laidley, Gerrow, Connolly (2), Berry (2), Devin Jordan (2), and Ty Ellis.

The Fury will meet Peterborough for a rematch on Monday, June 22 at 7:00 p.m. at the Lindsay Recreation Centre.

MIDGET FURY RECORDS FIRST ZONE POINT

A match in Toronto against the Stars gave the midget team their first zone point. Josh O誰eill stepped up from his bantam team to man the goal on Thursday, June 18. Facing shot after shot in the first period O誰eill only let two slide by him. The boys played a solid game with it ending in a 4-4 tie. Goals for the Fury were scored by Jeremy Lytle (3), and Ty Ellis. Picking up assists were Michael Laidley(2) and Devin Jordan.

For the 3rd time in less then 3 days, the Bantam Fury took to the floor against their rivals, the Peterborough Lakers. Having defeated the Lakers twice over the past weekend in the Kingston Tournament, and missing some key players, they knew they would be in for a game, as Peterborough would want to show why it is known as the "Lacrosse Capital of the Kawarthas!"

The Jim Newton Electric Bantam Fury rep squad traveled to Uxbridge to take on the Enforcers. Having already beaten the Enforcers in their first game of the year, by a score of 7-4, the Fury knew that they would be in tough, with Uxbridge wanting to even the season series.

BANTAM FURY SHOOT OUT THE STARS

The Jim Newton Electric Bantam Fury Rep team took to the floor at the LRC on Monday June 8, for their 4th Zone 6 game against the Toronto Stars. The week previous to this, the Fury easily handled the Stars in Scarborough, winning the game by a lob-sided score of 10-1. Tonight would be different, however, as the task would not be as easy.

Saturday, June 6, 2009:

The Midget Rep team have started off their season with lots of spirit and teamwork even though they haven稚 recorded a win yet.

Coach Steve Millard and Assistant Coach David Conroy report that the boys are starting to show some improvement in their skills as they attempt to tackle an offense/defense style of play.

So far in the season the goal scorers are: Ty Ellis, Jake Rutherford (2), Jeremy Lytle (2) and Devin Jordan (2).

Assists have been made by: Devin Jordan, Brad Gerrow, Andrew Nokes, Clint Harford, Jeremy Lytle, and Michael Laidley.



Thursday, May 28, 2009:

The Bantam Fury Rep team travelled to Scarorough to face the Toronto Stars. The boys came ready to play. Brenden Hlibchuk opened the scoring on a play from Craig Shier and Colin Naylor. Liam Newton and Craig Shier also scored in the first period with assists to Zack Bratina, Hlibchuk and Peter Smith. The Fury goaltender, Joshua O誰eill, made some great saves to hold the Stars scoreless after one period.

Liam Newton opened the second period with his second goal of the night. The assists went to Jacob Halsall and Bratina.

The Fury continued to dominate throughout the game. Goals were added by Hayden Ryan, Jacob Halsall and Tom Weber (2) with assists to Brett Reesor, Daniel Campbell, Bratina and two more to Shier. Brenden Hlibchuk capped off a stellar performance with his hat trick.

The Stars finally broke through late in the game to break the shut-out. The final score was 10-1 for the Fury.

The Toronto Stars will travel to Lindsay on Monday, June 8 for a rematch.
