NOVICE & PEE WEE FURY QUALIFY FOR ZONE CHAMPIONSHIPS

The Kawartha Lakes Minor Lacrosse Association is proud to announce that two of its three rep teams have qualified for 2008 Zone 6 Championship Games.

The Jim Newton Electric Pee Wee Fury will travel to Uxbridge on July 21 to play the Uxbridge Enforcers for the 2008 Pee Wee D Championship. The Fury enters the game as defending Champions after defeating the Enforcers a year ago. The teams have split zone play this year, while in tournament play the Fury took 2nd place at Stayner with the Enforcers taking 3rd. The game will be a tightly contested and physical match with the Fury having the chance to repeat as Zone Champions.

The Fury will not have to wait long for a second opportunity to add another Championship banner to their collection. Two days later, the Farmers’ Mutual Novice Fury will travel to Whitby to compete in the 2008 Novice C Championship against the Whitby Warriors. The Fury will be in tough to beat a well disciplined Whitby team that they have split their season series with 1-1. The Fury novices have put together a phenomenal record for being a first year team. The game will be the Fury’s first chance to win a C Level Championship.

“We’re proud of how all of our rep teams have competed and represented our association and the greater community this season.” Said KLMLA President Paul Hough. “These two teams have shown that they are capable of playing with the best teams in their division. We’re proud that they have qualified to compete for a Zone Championship.” Adding “This is a sure sign that our program continues to develop while having success along the way.”
