PEE WEE FURY HUMBLED TWO NIGHTS IN A ROW

The Newton Electric Pee Wee Fury played two road games this past week and in both games were soundly beaten by the home teams by wide margins.

On Tuesday night the Fury made the trip down the 401 to play in Whitby against the Warriors. Well, it was not hard to see that just 14 seconds into the game, that it was going to be a long night for the team. The Warriors took the opening draw down the floor and scored early and often against a shell-shocked Fury goaltender, Josh ONeill. Before the period had ended, the Warriors had managed to score 7 times on ONeill, and the Fury only tallied once.

At the end of the first period, the Fury made a goaltending change, and were hoping to get back into the game. Again, however, the Warriors just came at the Fury, wave after wave. It was not hard to see why this organization has won so many championships over their existence in the OLA. Both goalies saw a lot of rubber on this night, as the Fury just seem to be content to stay back and let the home team come at them and hope for the best.

The final score was 14-5 in favour of Whitby. Scoring for the Fury was Jacob Halsall with 2, and singles to Craig Shier, Jasper Poulton, and call up Connor Grills, assists went to Riley Smith with 2, and Zach Fleming and Aiden Jamieson with 1 apiece.

The next night, the Fury made the trip down to the beaches area of Toronto, to play the Toronto Beaches. Earlier in the year the Fury played this team in Lindsay, and played them to a 3-3 tie. However, on this night again, the improvement by the Beaches club was very evident, and right from the face off, the home team marched right down the floor and 10 seconds into the game, opened the scoring. Tonight would be no different then the night before, as the boys played very little defence, and the goalie was left out to dry. The Beaches team moved the ball very well all night long, and with virtual ease against the Fury, and the game ended in a score of 10-3 for the home team.

Scoring for Lindsay, was Jacob Halsall, Riley Smith and Craig Shier, with assists going to Nic Myhren, Liam Newton, and Jacob Halsall.

The next action for the Fury is Tuesday, July 17, when they will play host to the Uxbridge Enforcers at 7:00pm at the Lindsay Recreation Center.
