PEE WEE FURY TAKE BOTH ENDS OF HOME & HOME VS UXBRIDGE

Coming off two trouncings last week by Whitby and Toronto Beaches, the Pee Wee Fury squad was looking to turn things around this week against Uxbridge. Knowing that this is the team that they would be facing in the Zone 6 Championship, the boys wanted to send a message over the two back to back games this week. If the way the boys played against Uxbridge is any indication of their determination to succeed, things are looking pretty good. As always, there is room for improvement even when you are winning, and after the game the conversation in the dressing room amongst the boys was that they need to be better defensively, and feel that they can achieve their goal of winning the Zone championship.

On Tuesday night, the Fury played host to the Enforcers, and for a change, they were the team that game out flying in the first period. They controlled the play very well getting numerous scoring chances on the Uxbridge team. If not for a strong performance by the visiting goaltender, the score would have been higher then it was. Over the course of the game, the Fury controlled the play, but as in every game they have played this year, the team had a defensive lapse, the only difference was that it lasted only half of a period, and not a whole one, and when this happened, the goalie Josh ONeill, made some great saves to keep Uxbridge off the board. When the buzzer went to end the game, the score board read in favour of the hometown Fury, 6-1. Scoring for the Fury was Craig Shier with 2, and singles to Jasper Poulton, Thomas Weber, Zach Gilmour, and Aiden Jamieson, picking up and assist each was Riley Smith, Hayden Ryan and Earl Westlake.

The next night, it was off to Uxbridge to wrap up the end of a home and home series with the Enforcers. It was almost the same scenario as the night before, with the only difference being that minding the twine for the Fury on this night was Mac Langford, who again was very sharp when the defence struggled a bit. The Fury controlled most of the play, and again the Uxbridge goalie made some great saves to keep the game from getting out of control. The game ended in favour of the Fury by a score of 8-2. Scoring for the Fury was Thomas Weber, Liam Newton, and Nic Williams with 2 each, and singles too Skyler Andrus and Jacob Halsall, drawing assists were Jasper Poulton with 2, Thomas Weber with 2, and singles too Zach Gilmore, Nick Hepburn, Zach Fleming, Riley Smith, Earl Westlake and Hayden Ryan.

The next action for the Fury is Wednesday, July 25, 2007 at the Lindsay Recreation Complex at 6:30pm, when the Fury will play host to the Zone 6 Championship against the Uxbridge Enforcers. Please be sure to spread the word around to friends and family about the game, as this is the first chance for our organization to host the Zone championship, and this being our first full year in the loop, the boys are determined to bring the banner to town......see you all then.
