MUCH IMPROVED PEE WEE FURY COMES UP JUST SHORT

The Fury Pee Wee squad was back on the floor on Wednesday, June 27, when they hosted the Clarington Gaels. The last time the two teams played, it was a very one-sided affair, with the Clarington team beating up on the Fury by a score of 12-0. Whatever the coaching staff said to the boys prior to the game, and a chalk talk from their captain, Thomas Weber, the boys game out flying. Less than two minutes into the game the Fury built up a 2-0 lead on goals by Matt Northmore and Jacob Halsall. >From here, the game went back and forth for a bit, and the first period ended with a score of 4-3 in favour of the Fury. The other two goals were scored by Craig Shier and Jacob Halsall, with his second of the game.

As has been the case in all of their games, the Fury seem to have one period in each game, that leads to their demise. Tonight was the second period. Outshot by the Gaels by a margin of 14-4, the Fury game out of the period trailing by a score of 6-4. If not for some good goaltending by Mac Langford, the score could have been a lot worse.

In between the second and third period, you could see the boys listening to the coaching staff, and again they responded. In the third period, they took it to the Gaels, outshooting them 13-5, and winning the period by a margin of 2-1, but down by a goal with less then a minute to play, the Fury pulled their goalie, but were unable to score the tying goal, and the final score was 7-6 in favour of Clarington.

A much better performance then last time against a very talented team from Clarington.

The goal scorers in the third for the Fury were Hayden Ryan and Craig Shier with his second. Assists in the game went to Craig Shier and Jacob Halsall with 2 each, and singles to Thomas Weber and Zach Gilmore.

The boys are now practice a couple of times next week to prepare for two upcoming road games during the week of July 9, when they will travel to Whitby on Tuesday, then the next night travel to Toronto, to take on the Toronto Beaches. Their next home game will be Tuesday, July 17, 2007 at 7:00pm, when they will play host to the Uxbridge Enforcers.
