2017 Bantam Box Champions

2017 was an amazing season for the Bantam Fury. They had big shoes to fill because the 2016 Bantam Fury won provincials in the D division. The 2017 Bantam Fury ended their field season on a high note by defeating the top seeded Oakville team. Rolling their field success into the box lacrosse season, the Bantam team won in the Midland tournament and showed very well at the Braver than Brave tournament in Oshawa. The Bantam team earned top seed during the regular season, and faced Whitby in the Zone 6 Championship. After a decisive win over Whitby, the zone champion Fury set their sites on the Provincials tournament in Whitby. The Bantams went undefeated on their path to the finals. Now faced against the only other undefeated team in Brampton, the Fury knew that they had a monumental task ahead of them. Brampton's goalie was fresh off a national championship win with Team Ontario. The Bantam Fury dug in deeply and pulled off a solid and convincing team effort on the way to a thrilling C Division provincial championship victory. The Fury have established themselves as a two ‎time champion in Bantam and they hope to roll that right into 2018.

2017 Midget Box Silver Medalists

The Kawartha Lakes Fury Midget lacrosse team had a very successful end to the season capturing an Ontario Silver Medal at the Ontario Lacrosse Festival. > They captured wins in the round robin against Stayner, Arthur and Gloucester. They advanced to face a tough St Catharine's team in the Quarter Final and came out on top which advanced them to a Semi Final rematch against the Gloucester Griffins. A very tight defensive battle all game forced a sudden death overtime period. Chances at both ends early left spectators on the edge of their seat. Finally with only a few minutes remaining in the sudden death period Kawartha Lakes caused a turnover and went down the floor to score the game winning goal and punch their ticket in the Gold Medal game. In the Gold medal match up the Fury faced off against a tough Barrie team that they had seen once previous early on in the season. Going down 4-0 in the first period was not the start the Fury Midget team expected but during the short intermission the boys took a deep breath and came together displaying the heart they played with all year long. They battled back to tie the game up and even take the lead but Barrie continued to press and wear Kawartha Lakes down further. Barrie ended up winning by a score of 8-7. Despite the loss the Kawartha Lakes Fury had a very successful season. They battled all year long against tough opponents and did it with a bench no bigger than twelve runners and two goalies at it's max. > The coaching staff of Dustin Dunn, Jordan Hill, Dan Dunn and manager Heather Dunn, would like to thank all the parents for their support and dedication all season long, the players for an outstanding year in both box and field and wish the graduating players the best in their future endeavors. Congratulations Midgets!
